Description
24c Carmine Rose & Blue, Center Inverted (C3a). Position 50 showing natural straight
edge at right, well clear of frame line, nicely balanced margins other sides, fresh original
gum and rich colors, hinged only once with small remnant at top
A VERY FINE AND EXCEPTIONALLY FRESH EXAMPLE OF THIS FAMOUS RARITY.
Originally part of a vertical pair, it was first offered in Green Sale XXVII by Edson Fifield in 1946 and bought by the legendary stamp dealer, Warren Colson. The pair remained a part of his holdings until 1960 when it was purchased by Stanley Richmond, who in turn sold to Robert A. Siegel. Some time later the pair was separated, and position 50 was acquired by the present owner.
