Description
#C3a, 24c Carmine rose and blue,
Center Inverted, the unique position I
with natural straight edge at top and full
sheet margin selvage at left. In October
of 1942 this particular stamp was purchased
by the consignor in the Irwin
Heiman auction offering a portion of
the massive collection formed by Col.
Green. This was one of the unique position
pieces Col. Green retained from the
sheet when he broke it up. It has not
been offered since 1942. This fine example
is without gum and is not plagued by
any of the faults that have befallen
several other air mail inverts. Being the
first position from the unique sheet adds
even more excitement to an error that
has caught the fancy of the philatelic
world. (see special color photo and
front cover photo)
