Description

According to a press release at bidstart.com, "Mark Rosenberg, President and CEO of StampWants.com, unveiled the promotion a year ago, on December 20, 2006, inspired by a then-recent event in the news. The Inverted Jenny had gained worldwide notoriety when Broward County, Florida, election workers claimed to have found one affixed to an absentee ballot in the November 2006 election. That invert was determined to be a fake by the American Philatelic Society, which sent American Philatelic Expertizing Service Director Mercer Bristow and APS Executive Director Peter Mastrangelo to Florida to examine it first-hand. Still, Rosenberg saw that the story had been featured in most newspapers, televised newscasts and other media outlets, and seemed to be promoting the stamp hobby everywhere.

Any adult can take part and submit a new entry each day through December 31, 2007, after simply registering at www.stampwants.com. The drawing on January 12, 2008, at APS AMERISTAMP EXPO in Charlotte, N.C., will determine the lucky winner, who is certain to have a place in philatelic history."
