Description
Position 74 was sold by George B. Sloane at auction on December 14, 1932, on behalf of former U.S. Senator Joseph S. Frelinghuysen of Morristown N.J.
The buyer of record was a "Mrs. F" of Morristown N.J., who turned out to be mother of Peter H.B. Frelinghuysen, who was 16 years old. She bought it for $2,750, a record for an Inverted Jenny at the time. At the time of the sale the stamp was in Mint Never-Hinged condition.
Scott Catalogue did not start pricing the Inverted Jenny until 1935.
