Description
Air 1918 24c error centre inverted, the famous rare "inverted Jenny", position 23, M. PF
Cert (1982) states " tiny thin spot covered by gum" However, under high magnification
examination, we believe this to be nothing more than an insignificant paper blemish. A
very fine example of this icon of world philately. Exceptionally fine examples realised
$825,000 and $850,000, before buyer's premium, in 2007. Ex William West. A full
provenance for this stamp and history of this error can be read on our web site. {Scott C3a)
Cat $400,000 {See photo on front cover)
Note: The realization was £160,000 plus the buyer’s premium of £24,000, making a total realization of £184,000. According to Warwick & Warwick, the buyer was a British collector in the room.
