Dr. Meilstrup was an avid stamp collector, forming important collections of United States stamps as well as British North America.

A fund was established in 1984 at the University of Utah School of Medicine by Dr. and Mrs. Meilstrup, to be awarded to deserving students who are U.S. citizens and have excelled academically and are in need of financial assistance.
