According to an informative article by George Amick, Dorothy Sayward Nicholson was originally from New Bedford Mass. had met Colonel Green and his wife through her parents when she was a child, and after the colonel died, she became a companion of Mabel, a woman more than 40 years her senior.
When Mabel Green passed away in 1950, a large portion of her estate went to Mrs. Nicholson, including the locket copy.
The locket copy remained in Mrs. Nicholson's possession until she passed away in 2001.
